Kapa Haka

Yesterday we had our first first kapa haka practise with Kia Manawanui. The kaupapa for the year is demonstrated through the whakatauki - He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. What is the most important thing in this world? It is people, it is people, it is people. There is nothing more important than how we treat each other.

The whānaungatanga was in full force for this - our very first practise together - we are a family, we all have a role to play, we are kind to each other. Tau kē! Waiata mai e te whānau!
Hutia te rito
Hutia te rito o te harakeke
Kei hea te kōmako e kō?
Kī mai ki ahau
He aha te mea nui?
Te mea nui o tēnei ao?
Māku e kī atu.
He tangata, he tangata.

Planting out...

It was a very exciting afternoon - the seeds we had sewn earlier in the year for the hue or calabashes or gourds or tahā - we're not too...
